This APS is open for six months from the date of issuance, although USAID/OFDA plans to review applications in batches. Applications submitted by 5:00 p.m. Washington, DC time by July 29, 2005, will be included in the first batch of applications for review. If an award(s) results from the first batch of reviewed applications, the award date is anticipated to be September 2005. Late applications will only be considered under subsequent batches of applications, if any. This APS may be amended either to establish subsequent submission deadlines or to indicate that an award(s) has/have been made and that no further funding is available.

Description:

USAID/OFDA?s mandate is to save lives, alleviate human suffering, and reduce the economic impact of disasters worldwide. In Red Sea and Kassala states, Sudan, USAID/OFDA aims to address the humanitarian needs while simultaneously providing an effective bridge to development activities. Within the framework of USAID?s Interim Strategic Plan for Sudan, 2004-2006, USAID/OFDA has identified programmatic priorities for Fiscal Year 2005 (October 1, 2004-September 30, 2005) as meeting the immediate humanitarian needs of conflict- and natural disaster-affected populations, with an emphasis on individuals displaced by the conflict and the provision of basic services in traditionally underserved areas.
